Find a good reference of the different types of eye shapes and the corrective measures needed. This during the make up consultation

Corrective Eye Make Up Application:

When looking at your model, it's important to work out what eyes they have so you can apply the corrective make up and get a good result. My model Georgia had, 'Small lid, Large Brow' Although, I'd argue that she doesn't really have big brows, just more of a hood eye. I chose to use eye shadows that had a frost finish because I thought of the light reflecting qualities and how that would improve the overall look. We were only allowed to use two colours

Tools/What I Used:

  • Eye shadow Primer
  • MAC Cool Neutral Eye shadow Palette
  • Black Mascara
  • Translucent Powder
  • Disposable Mascara Wands
  • Medium Flat Eyes hadow Brush
  • Domed Eye shadow Brush
  • Large Powder Brush
  • Eyeliner (Optional, dependent on the brief)

Method:

  1. During the consultation decide what eye type your model has. This will make it easier to know how to correct it.
  2. Apply eye primer. I use Urban Decay Primer Potion, I apply this with my ring finger because it's the finger you apply the least about of pressure with. I don't like using brushes for this. It's just my personal preference.
  3. Apply translucent powder under the eye in excess. This will catch any 'fall out' eye shadow making it easy to keep the area under the eye clear of any unwanted
  4. Apply the lighter eye shadow over the lid with the medium flat eye shadow brush. I used MAC Silver Fog. I don't take it all the way up the brown bone, just above the crease as illustrated in the reference.
  5. Taking the domed eye shadow brush, I use a darker shade (Pearled Earth) and tap off any excess. Just above the crease, I apply this colour lightly, building it up as I don't want it to be too harsh as it'll have the opposite effect to what I'm hoping to achieve
  6. Checking in the mirror, check the evenness of the application. When happy with this take a disposable mascara wand loaded with black mascara and start by getting the model to look down and apply to the lashes in downward zig-zag strokes. Ask your model to look straight ahead, and do the same technique making sure you are evenly coating the lashes and the roots have mascara on them. Apply to the bottom lashes.
  7. When completely happy with the look, use the large powder the brush to sweep away the translucent powder.
  8. Apply eyeliner if needed.
